Daylight

We calculate daylight factor for all types of building projects. The calculation ensures that requirements from, among other things, building regulations and environmental certifications are met.

Calculation of daylight factor shows availability of daylight

Requirements for access to direct daylight are based on the Planning and Building Act's regulation that buildings must not give rise to unacceptable risks to health, and are regulated in more detail in national building regulations.

A daylight calculation shows whether requirements from BBR or environmental certification are met. The availability of daylight is affected by a number of different factors such as floor plan, windows, the location of the building, colors etc.

We use the latest digital technology to perform indoor daylight simulations. We can easily update models and give suggestions on how daylight can be improved in a cost-effective way.

Sun light

Access to sunlight is regulated in the BBR. The requirement means that residential apartments must be designed so that any room, or separable part of a room, in the apartment receives direct sunlight during some time of the year. solar radiation is measured in hours that a surface is exposed to direct solar radiation, but no minimum requirement is specified in the legislation.

All bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms and other rooms in which people stay regularly for longer periods must be assessed for all floors of the building. Hygiene rooms, garages, storage rooms and similar spaces are not covered by the requirement for access to direct sunlight. We use the latest digital technology to perform simulations of the sunlight.
